Anxiety and Hypnosis
“Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.” Charles Spurgeon
Anxiety can be incredibly draining and causes countless issues to your physical and mental well being. The heart races, it’s tough to breathe and it seems like the world is ending. You may not even feel such symptoms when having an anxiety attack. Perhaps you feel overly lethargic and overwhelmed to the point of “shut down” when anxious. Anxiety is a big cause to many physical problems: heart issues, stomach problems like ulcers and IBS, and others. Anxiety typically is related to stress and/or fears. Our emotional brain struggles to differentiate a true physical threat and what’s just a threat to our way of life/living like work stress. Because the emotional brain doesn’t know the difference we react in a self-preservation way which is flight, fight or freeze. Anxiety is a result of the flight, fight or freeze response. Why wrestle with anxiety alone?
How can hypnosis help anxiety?
PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is an extreme form of anxiety that is linked to a traumatic event. Hypnosis can help lessen the emotional impact of an event or events from the past. Hypnosis cannot erase the memory but it can change how a particular memory controls how you react to the present. I can also teach you self-hypnosis and other techniques that can aid in reducing and even eliminating anxious responses. Learning how to retrain the emotional mind to recognize what is a real physical threat also helps alleviate anxiety.
